– In the press: SERC Health and Social Care students visit Maryland HealthCare-

Health and Social Care students from South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Newtownards Campus recently visited the Maryland Healthcare Centre of Distinction in Castlereagh to learn about the expert care the Centre offers its patients.

Located in Castlereagh, Maryland is an elegant purpose-built healthcare facility boasting 84 bedrooms, all naturally lit with spacious en-suite bathrooms.

The state-of-the-art facility offers 24-hour care in a friendly environment whilst also being modern and efficient. Set in a natural enclosure, the centre offers therapeutic sensory gardens, livestock meadow and wildlife supporting flora.

Students met with Director of Nursing, Jackie Woods, who provided them with a tour of the facility which offered an overview of the Centre’s speciality care services, including Dementia, elderly, physical disability and palliative care. Students also got the opportunity to ask any questions.

During their visit, students commented on the layout and the relaxed, homely atmosphere, which encourages residents to enjoy their stay and recognised their rights, privacy, dignity, choice, individuality and independence in a secure and friendly community environment.
